H1 enclave is the largest Baarlese enclave, larger than all other Baarlese enclaves combined. Moreover, 79% of all enclave residents from Baarle live in this enclave. It is not without reason that enclave H1 bears the name 'head clave' or 'master clave'.
It is also the only enclave in the world that contains more than one counterclave (that is, an enclave within an enclave). No fewer than six Dutch counterclaves lie in this Belgian enclave! In this geographical puzzle, the national borders criss-cross through roads, houses, shops, gardens ... Thanks to the house number signs with their national tricolor, you can see in which country the front door of a house is located. In the center, these enclave borders are marked with special pavement tiles and metal pins in the road surface.
