Enclave H18 offers the beautiful nature scenery of the brook valley of 't Merkske. It is situated in the midst of a designated quiet zone.
Brook valleys hold a high biodiversity due to minor human activity. As a result the landscape is diversified and is the habitat of a variety of fauna and flora. Here is the territory of the ragged robin, meadowsweet, meadowbirdsfoot, Sumpf-Kratzdistel, marsh marigold, saxifraga granulata, frog, salamander, dragonfly, damselfly, butterfly, nightingale, golden oriole and deer. After being put out at new ponds and blackberries, this area feels like home to the tree frog too.
H18 is part of the groundwater area of 'Manke' Gooren, a spelling error of the original 'Marke' Gooren. This designation refers to the former meadows nearby the creek Markske.
