Of all enclaves in the world, the enclave combination H1 and H2 is the only one where two enclaves hit one another in one point! Despite their mutual touching point, H1 and H2 are considered by experts to be enclaves anyway, as it is impossible to move from one enclave to the other without trespassing foreign territory.

Such a feature where four international borderlines meet at one point is called a ‘quadripoint’ or ‘boundary crossing’ in jargon. There are only two of these geographical rarities worldwide: in Baarle and in Jungholz, an Austrian enclave in Germany that touches the Austrian mainland with one single point.

The quadripoint in Baarle is marked by a heavy metal pipe in the ground.
